Chicken Recipe

These tender, flavour-packed chicken drumsticks are the perfect mix of smoky, sweet, and savoury. Marinated in olive oil, garlic, smoked paprika, and brown sugar, they soak up bold flavours before hitting the braai. Sear them hot for a crisp finish, then slow-cook over lower heat for juicy, fall-off-the-bone results.

  • 2 racks baby back ribs
  • 4 tbsp. unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil (optional binder)
  • 1 cup Whisky
  • Your favorite wood chips

Preparation


  1. Add the olive oil and seasoning ingredients to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Place the drumsticks in the bowl and mix with a wooden spoon until all the chicken is evenly coated in your marinade.
  4. Cover the bowl and allow the drumsticks to marinate for at least 20 minutes (but we recommend leaving them in the fridge overnight).

Cooking Instructions

    Fire up the Nexgrill Oakford Pellet to around 220°C.

    Place your seasoned chicken drumsticks on the hot Oakford Pellet and sear for about 5 minutes, then turn them over and repeat.

    Close the lid and reduce the temperature to 160°C.

  4. 4

    Braai for five minutes, then flip your drumsticks, close the lid, and braai for another 5-7 minutes or until the internal temp reads 73°C.
